Training camp is rapidly approaching, and the Buffalo Bills have a lot of questions to answer. The roster is riddled with turnover. Turnover makes for uncertainty, and uncertainty makes for some thrilling opportunities. In a season of great change, these players have the chance to win roles and roster spots in training camp.

Buffalo Bills training camp battles

From new free agents looking to earn their place to a gaggle of veterans fighting for a once-secure starting spot, this offseason is full of excitement up and down the roster. A new head coach, new offensive and defensive coordinators, and new players. These training camp battles are the ones you need to watch.

Left guard

Despite roster turnover and the wealth of philosophy change, there are only a few bonafide full-time starting positions available. Left guard is one of those positions. Alec Anderson opens as the favourite in camp, returning on a one-year deal after multiple seasons as the Bills' go-to OL6; He's joined by a slew of veteran additions and draft picks. All said, it's one of the most significant camp battles on offense for the Bills.

Punter

It might not sound interesting, but this offseason's punter battle in training camp offers the answer to a question the Bills have struggled with for close to a decade. It's the rookie Tommy Doman Jr. vs. last season's standout veteran, Mitch Wishnowsky.

Linebacker

There are few battles for positions more consequential than the fight at linebacker. In a new-look Buffalo Bills defense, who takes the middle of the field next to Terrel Bernard?

Cornerback #2

When the Buffalo Bills selected CB Davison Igbinosun early in the 2026 NFL Draft, there was uproar. Now that things have calmed down, it's an interesting training camp battle. Maxwell Hairston and Igbinosun are very different players, making this highly consequential for the Bills' defense.

Backup quarterback

One position where the Buffalo Bills seem destined to be worse is at backup quarterback. Who tries to step into the shoes of Mitch Trubisky? A camp battle at QB2 ensues.

Kick and Punt Returner

In what may be the deepest and most fascinating training camp battle of this offseason, the returner jobs are up for grabs. An enormous pool of candidates makes for less of a battle and more of a gladiatorial clash.

Wide Receiver #2

The Buffalo Bills' WR2 race has been fascinating thus far, and training camp only adds fuel to the flame. From Keon Coleman, to Joshua Palmer to Skyler Bell, this is anyone's battle to win.

Safety

The training camp battle at safety has frontrunners for both starting spots, but it's far from settled. With a deep roster at the position and lots of new blood, this is one to watch.
