The Buffalo Bills of recent years have been known as much for their offensive line play as for Josh Allen's heroics. In 2026, there will be some changes to that group. Former starting left guard David Edwards left for the New Orleans Saints in free agency, creating a hole on offense. The rest of the offensive line's roster enters training camp with one goal: Win the starting spot.
The search for the Bills' starting left guard
The issue is twofold; The Buffalo Bills need a calibef of play similar to Edwards', who commanded a shocking $15m+ per season on his four-year deal. They must also find someone young and consistent enough to provide a future. As offensive linemen get more and more expensive on the open market, and the Bills spend at other positions, the task is an enormous one.
Training camp battle candidates
Alec Anderson
Considered by many to be the frontrunner in this training camp battle, Alec Anderson is a natural choice. He returns on a one-year deal after multiple seasons as the Bills official 6OL, with expectations of competition. As camp kicks off, Anderson will take some starting reps.
Austin Corbett
Austin Corbett isn't the powerhouse veteran free agent fans hoped for, but he's been heavily involved in the left guard competition thus far. He played under previous Bills OL coach Aaron Kromer.
Jude Bowry
Now, Jude Bowry fits the archetype that Buffalo seeks for their OTs, but those spots are both filled already. With Dion Dawkins and Spencer Brown both playing well on long-term deals, where does Bowry fit? If he's going to see playing time this season, it will have to be at left guard. He plays too long and tall for the spot, but there's plenty of time to learn as training camp gets underway.
Ar'Maj Reed-Adams
The Bills waited until the 7th round of this draft to truly address the major hole at left guard. It's unclear if the draft simply fell that way, or if they didn't view the hole as a major problem at all. Regardless, Ar'Maj Reed-Adams is fighting for a roster spot. His role in this training camp battle is tenuous, but still real.
Sedrick Van Pran-Granger
Originally groomed to take over at center in the expected absence of Connor McGovern, Sedrick Van Pran-Granger is now without a role. He falls naturally into the backup centre position, but his skillset put him in this conversation too. Though Pran-Granger is undoubtedly on the roster this season, he's an underdog in this camp battle.
