Backup CB: Dane Jackson

Dane Jackson played just 18% of the defensive snaps for the Buffalo Bills in 2020. Despite the limited snaps, Jackson was very efficient and made the most of his opportunities. In five games, Jackson defended five passes, 15 combined tackles, a fumble recovery, and an interception.

Jackson’s efforts in 2020 earned him praise from both Bills Mafia and general manager Brandon Beane. Jackson will be competing with Levi Wallace for not just snaps, but the second starting cornerback role. Jackson showed promise in 2020, and he will look to earn more opportunities in training camp.

Backup Slot CB: Siran Neal

Siran Neal is primarily a slot cornerback and special teams gunner for the Bills. Neal was drafted in the 5th round (154th overall) by the Bills in 2018 and has played in 47 career games. In those 47 games, Neal has forced two fumbles and made 60 combined tackles.

Neal has never seen more than 17 percent of Buffalo’s defensive snaps in any of his three seasons with the teams, but he has never seen less than 57 percent of their special teams snaps.

Neal is in the final year of his rookie contract and likely will not be re-signed, but he will likely be a special teams gunner again for the Bills in 2021.

Backup CB: Rachad Wildgoose

The Buffalo Bills drafted Wisconsin cornerback Rachad Wildgoose in the sixth round (213th overall) in the 2021 NFL Draft. Wildgoose offers versatility; he can play both in the slot and on the outside.

Cam Lewis will be Wildgoose’s primary competition for the final spot on Buffalo’s cornerback depth chart in 2021. Wildgoose is a young cornerback who has good ball skills but is still raw. He could sneak onto the roster in 2021. If he doesn’t, he will certainly be a member of the practice squad.
