Week 8– Stefon Diggs vs. Stephon Gilmore / Bills offense vs. Patriots defense

Since losing Gilmore to the Patriots in free agency in 2017, Gilmore has become a household name and is considered one of the top cover corners in the league. This time around though, the Buffalo Bills have one of the best route runners in the league in Stefon Diggs.

Also, rookie 2nd-rounder Josh Uche from Michigan could be someone to keep an eye on for this matchup. Uche is an extremely versatile linebacker that fits perfectly into a Bill Belichick defense. Uche is capable of lining up off-ball, with his hand in the dirt on the LOS or standing up as an edge rusher. Due to this kind of versatility, it’s difficult to project exactly which player he would hypothetically “matchup” against, but expect him to be a solid contributor for the Patriots defense come Week 8.

Last season, even with Tom Brady, the Patriots strength was their defense as the Bills lost to them twice. In those two contests the Buffalo Bills managed to hold the Patriots to under 25 points, but failed to score more than 18. As the Patriots invested more into their defense this offseason, the task remains the same for the Bills: if they want to beat the Patriots in 2020, the offense must score more points.
