Week 6 – Josh Allen vs. Patrick Mahomes / Bills Secondary vs.  Tyreek Hill

In Week 6 the Buffalo Bills will play their first of four primetime games, hosting the reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday night. After a presumably physical game against the Titans in Week 5, this will be an especially difficult short week for the Bills.

The story line and player matchups that are most intriguing are two-fold. First and foremost, the comparisons between Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes sparks many debates because of the 2017 NFL Draft. Back in 2017 the Bills traded down from the 10th overall pick to acquire more assets.

That 10th overall pick went to the Chiefs and turned into the now Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes. However, the Bills received the 27th overall pick in 2017 as well as a third rounder the same year and a first rounder in 2018.

In hindsight, it’s easy to look at the trade and feel like the Bills lost a chance at Patrick Mahomes, but at that time the Bills had a broken roster with other needs. Furthermore, due to this trade the Bills were able to yield Tre’Davious White, Josh Allen and Tremaine Edmunds.

Although hindsight is 20/20, the young core the Bills got from this trade was simply wonderful work by Brandon Beane. The second matchup to look forward to is Tyreek Hill versus Tre’Davious White and the safeties because no one corner can keep up with Hill, White will need safety help from Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde to neutralize Hill in this matchup.
