53-man roster predictions for Buffalo Bills before training camp
By Joe Cook
Safety (4)
Jordan Poyer, Micah Hyde, Taylor Rapp, Dean Marlowe (Damar Hamlin starts on the PUP list)
The Bills will start the season with both of their All-Pro safeties back from injury. The Bills lost only one game in which Poyer played last year. Taylor Rapp comes over from the Rams as a top-notch depth piece. It would not surprise at all to see Rapp get special coverage package snaps and even encourage a dime defensive look.
Veteran Dean Marlowe is well respected by the Bills, knows the system, can play when called upon, and play special teams well. Damar Hamlin is going to be worked back slowly after his terrible on-field accident last season.
Special Teams (3)
Tyler Bass, Sam Martin, Reid Ferguson
Tyler Bass has been nothing short of great for the Bills since the team drafted him and has now earned a nice contract extension. Reid Ferguson is a great long-snapper and great personality.
Sam Martin was a last-minute controversial addition that panned out well for the Bills. An underrated aspect of Martin is his veteran presence holding field goals and extra points.
