53-man roster predictions for Buffalo Bills before training camp
By Joe Cook
Defensive End (5): Leonard Floyd, Greg Rousseau, Shaq Lawson, A.J. Epenesa, Boogie Basham
Yes, superstar Von Miller is not on here. Although he believes he’ll be healthy enough for a Week 1 return, it does not seem likely the Bills let him return that quickly. Miller will be brought back slowly and cautiously and start the year on the Injured list.
Leonard Floyd was another massive late off-season signing for the Bills. He adds some much-needed pass-rushing juice, with and without Miller. Greg Rousseau will be entering his third year and was having quite the breakout year, after a red-hot start. Unfortunately, injuries slowed him down, and he only finished the year with eight sacks but look for a huge year from the 6’7” defensive end
Shaq Lawson, another fan favorite, is back again. He played very well when called upon in the wake of Miller’s ACL injury, and has always been great against the run. Epenesa and Basham have been underwhelming to start their careers, despite flashing at times. Both former second-round picks need to have big years.
If Miller is ready in Week 1, it seems destined the two will be battling for the final defensive end spot, with the loser getting traded.
