Buffalo Bills Defense
Defensive Tackle (5)
Ed Oliver, DaQuan Jones, Poona Ford, Jordan Phillips, Tim Settle
Ed Oliver, the Bills former ninth-overall selection just got paid this off-season. It was a good deal for both sides as Oliver has not quite lived up to his status so far. He needs to remain more consistent, but if there was ever a year for him to break out, it’s this year.
Jordan Phillips, the fan favorite, returns for another shot with the Bills. He was on a tear to start last season before playing through injuries. Assuming he doesn’t start the year on the injured list, he and Oliver will blow stuff up at 3-tech.
DaQuan Jones was a mountain last season eating up blockers. He did his job and then some and will be a big piece to the D-line success. One of the problems the Bills had last year was that they didn’t have someone on par with Jones, to sub in for him. Poona Ford was a big addition late in the off-season for the Bills. He improved the interior just by signing his name on the contract.
Tim Settle will be able to get more reps at the 3-tech this year, after restructuring his deal to stay in Buffalo. It would cost the team $5 million in dead cap to cut him.
