The Buffalo Bills are 8-4, trying to hold on in a crowded AFC playoff race. Things have been rocky for the Bills in their last four games, going 2-2, but they’re still holding on to a playoff spot. Buffalo’s next challenge will be against the Cincinnati Bengals, who they will host on Sunday.
The Bengals will enter the game at 4-8, having a really rough season. Part of the reason why is that Joe Burrow has missed the majority of the season with a foot injury, and the other part is Cincinnati’s abysmal defense.
Burrow is now back in the lineup and hasn’t lost this year. The star quarterback has also never lost to a Josh Allen-led Bills team. With both QBs respected as two of the best of their era, head-to-head records are something people care about when analyzing legacies. On Sunday, Allen will have the opportunity to secure his first victory over Burrow.
Josh Allen could get his first win over Joe Burrow when Bills play Bengals in Week 14
The two quarterbacks have only faced off twice in their careers. Their first meeting came in an AFC Divisional game for the 2022 season, in Buffalo. Burrow and the Bengals won that game 27-10, advancing in the postseason, and sending the Bills home. The teams met the following year in the 2023 regular season, and Cincinnati was once again victorious, winning 24-18.
Now, Allen and the Bills are hoping it’s their turn to win.

They’ve had the better season this year, and are expected to win, but anything can happen — especially when facing a great quarterback. Burrow returned to the lineup on Thanksgiving and led his team to a victory over Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens. He completed 24-of-46 for 261 yards and two touchdowns. Burrow is hoping for a similar outcome on Sunday.
Allen, and all of the Bills, will have to prevent that. Winning this game is important for Buffalo, and not just because of Allen’s legacy. It’s a big game because the Bills can’t afford to lose ground in the playoff race. Josh Allen finally getting a win against Joe Burrow will be an added bonus.
