Right now, it's prime time for offseason content such as power rankings, quarterback rankings, and all the likes of such lists. Sometimes they hit, other times they don't.
Well, in all fairness, there is very rarely a list that 100 percent of fans agree with. In this case, we've got a prime example of a list that Buffalo Bills fans will agree with to some extent. Former NFL quarterback-turned-analyst Kurt Benkert put out his rankings of arguably the top three quarterbacks in the league.
At no. 2 he has none other than Josh Allen, who is a spot above Patrick Mahomes.
1. Lamar

2. Josh
3. Mahomes
That’s how I’d rank these 3.
If you don’t think Lamar or Josh would have had at least 1 Super Bowl with Big Red by now idk what to tell you.
We can spend time arguing Allen over Lamar Jackson for no. 1, but for now, let's just say this is another feather in Allen's cap in the longstanding debate of Allen vs. Mahomes.
Josh Allen deserves a higher ranking than Patrick Mahomes based on one simple principle
Look, we have all heard it before. The NFL is a "what have you done for me lately" league. That's what it's about.
It just so happens that Allen is coming off a season which saw him voted as the NFL MVP. That, of course, could be a reason in and of itself to list him number one on this list (which we would obviously side with).
But, the last time Mahomes won an MVP was three seasons ago. Not to take anything away from the two-time winner, in Mahomes, but if we are talking right now, then Benkert has the right idea. Allen is simply the better and more valuable player, and the voters agreed.
Hey, we can go deeper, too. Last season, Mahomes finished with under 4,000 passing yards for the first time in his career as a starter. In fact, it was the lowest total of his career (3,928).
Mahomes also combined for just 28 touchdowns as opposed to Allen's 40.
And, to further back Benkert's point, if Allen was in Kansas City and having played with Travis Kelce, under Andy Reid's offensive prowess, there is no doubt he'd be a Super Bowl champion at this point.
We agree with Mr. Benkert. Allen is the better player.
