Next Tuesday at 4PM EST is the NFL’s trade deadline and once that time passes, no trades can be made for the rest of the season. We have already seen some trades take place and there might be more coming as well. In the AFC East alone, the New England Patriots have already traded away edge rusher Keion White and safety Kyle Dugger.
The Buffalo Bills have not been afraid to make moves at the trade deadline. Just last year, they traded for wide receiver Amari Cooper from the Cleveland Browns, and then the year prior, they traded for cornerback Rasul Douglas. Brandon Beane is not afraid to make a deal to try and improve the Bills.
A lot of fans are hoping that Beane will make atleast one move to try and improve this roster. Some of the names that have been mentioned as potential trade candidates across the league include WR Chris Olave, WR Rashid Shaheed, DE Trey Hendrickson, CB Riq Woolen, and even WR A.J. Brown.
Well, a former Bills fan-favorite has made it clear on which direction the Bills should go when it comes to adding talent to have for the rest of the season and possible beyond 2025.
Former Bills' WR Stevie Johnson makes it clear who Bills should be going for prior to NFL trade deadline
Stevie Johnson, who was an amazing football player for the Bills during the team’s playoff drought posted on X that the Bills should only be setting their sights on trading for A.J. Brown. Specifically, Johnson said “Bring in [Chris] Olave and see —-nothing change…it ain’t the players. If it ain’t AJ Brown, it ain’t worth it.”

It’s been made clear that the Eagles are saying that they have no interest in trading away Brown, but anything is possible in the NFL. Brown has not been the dynamic player for the Eagles this season like he has before. Brown has had only two games of over 100+ yards and he has just 3 touchdowns on the year.
The Eagles’ offense hasn’t been the same, in terms of the passing attack. Brown has been talked about as a possible trade candidate and him potentially being traded to the Bills makes too much sense.
The Bills are in need of a true No. 1 receiver and someone who can make defenses game plan for. In addition, the Bills are not afraid to throw the ball either which could heavily benefit Brown and his production that he hasn’t had a ton of this season.
However, the financial aspect is what comes into the picture as what could be extremely tricky for the Bills. Buffalo doesn’t have a ton of cap space, specifically only having $1.76 million to work with, per Albert Breer.
Last year, Brown signed a three-year, $96 million deal with the Eagles so whoever trades for him would most likely be taking on the rest of the contract. Who knows if the Bills are willing to do it, but we do know that the Bills need help at wide receiver and Brown is one of the best in the game.
