Training camp for the Buffalo Bills is coming up here very quickly as it will begin on Wednesday, July 23rd at St. John Fisher University. This is the final time for players to impress the coaching staff in order to make the final 53-man roster for a Week 1 battle against the Baltimore Ravens.

Not to mention, we will also get a behind-the-scenes look at the Bills’ practice as they will be featured on the show Hard Knocks, despite conflicting opinions on what people may feel about it. Either way, it will be awesome to see a more in-depth look at what’s going on.

With that, we take a look at a final 53-man roster prediction that has a fan-favorite not making the team for the 2025 season. In addition, we have listed a prediction of notable practice squad players that could still be part of the team other than on gameday.

Buffalo Bills 53-man roster prediction as training camp approaches

QBs (2): Josh Allen, Mitch Trubisky

Don’t worry, Josh Allen isn’t the fan-favorite not making the team. After signing a brand new six-year deal worth $330 million this offseason, Allen is looking to bring the Bills to the Super Bowl for the first time in a long time. Mitch Trubisky is backing up Allen once again, which means Mike White and Shane Buechle are not going to be on the field on gamedays.

RBs (3): James Cook, Ray Davis, Ty Johnson

James Cook is coming back (for atleast one more season) with the Bills in hopes of getting paid by the team. However, he also might be auditioning for other teams that may need a running back for 2026. Buffalo is also running it back with the committee of Ray Davis and Ty Johnson, who were fantastic complimentary backs to Cook last season.

FB (1): Reggie Gilliam

There’s really nothing much to say here. Reggie Gilliam is the starting fullback and has helped the rushing attack in Buffalo improve over the years. He’s back in Buffalo for one more season.

WR (6): Keon Coleman, Khalil Shakir, Curtis Samuel, Joshua Palmer, Elijah Moore, Laviska Shenault

The first five of this group are locks to make the roster. So really, it’s a battle for the WR6 spot between Laviska Shenault, Tyrell Shavers, and rookie Kaden Prather. Shenault has more experience on special teams and was a former second round pick. Maybe he can provide more help on the outside in major passing situations for the Bills and with that, he gets the final wide receiver spot.

TE (2): Dawson Knox, Dalton Kincaid

Even though it’s more than likely that the Bills go with three tight ends, I firmly believe they should prioritize other positions more than tight end which is why Dawson Knox and Dalton Kincaid are the only tight ends getting roster spots. Fifth-round pick Jackson Hawes is a blocking tight end that the Bills could use more than we think, but he needs more development as a player. Zach Davidson is a sneaky option to make a push for a roster spot, but he comes up short as well.

OL (9): Dion Dawkins, David Edwards, Connor McGovern, O’Cyrus Torrence, Spencer Brown, Chase Lundt, Alec Anderson, Sedrick Van Pran-Granger, Tylan Grable

You have your same starting five from last year returning and then a little bit of a different backup situation. Chase Lundt was drafted in the 6th round by the Bills this year and has a lot of potential to be a swing tackle for the offense. However for now, that belongs to Alec Anderson who has become an underrated fan-favorite. Then you have Sedrick Van Pran-Granger backing up Connor McGovern and an extra tackle option with Tylan Grable.

DE (5): Greg Rousseau, Joey Bosa, Landon Jackson, A.J. Epenesa, Michael Hoecht (suspended), Javon Solomon

The Bills prioritized bringing in edge rushers this offseason with the additions of Joey Bosa, Landon Jackson, and Michael Hoecht (who is set to be suspended for the first six games of the season). However, with his suspension, he won’t count for a roster spot until he is back which could give someone like Javon Solomon a chance to contribute in the first month of the season.

DT (5): Ed Oliver, DaQuan Jones, T.J. Sanders, Deone Walker, Larry Ogunjobi (suspended), DeWayne Carter

Much like Hoecht off the edge, defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi will also be suspended for the first six games but he will be a fresh contributor for when he comes back. In the meantime, the Bills return both Ed Oliver and DaQuan Jones with T.J. Sanders, Deone Walker, and DeWayne Carter backing them up.

LB (5): Terrel Bernard, Matt Milano, Joe Andreessen, Dorian Williams, Edefuan Ulofoshio

The feel-good story of Buffalo's own Joe Andreessen returns for another season in Buffalo as he makes the final 53-man roster in this projection. The room looks very similar to last year with Bernard, Milano, Williams, and Ulofoshio. With Andreessen making the roster, that means Shaq Thompson is out.

CB (6): Christian Benford, Maxwell Hairston, Tre’Davious White, Jordan Hancock, Dorian Strong, Taron Johnson

Much like how the Bills emphasized building up the defensive line, they did the same thing at corner. Tre’Davious White is back in Buffalo after being in LA and Baltimore last season. Then you have three rookies in Maxwell Hairston, Jordan Hancock, and Dorian Strong on the roster as well. Your two guaranteed locks for corners are Christian Benford and Taron Johnson.

S (4): Taylor Rapp, Darrick Forrest, Cole Bishop, Cam Lewis

This is where the fan-favorite aspect comes into play. Damar Hamlin, who has become beloved in the city of Buffalo (and re-signed with the Bills this offseason) misses out on the final roster for Week 1. He only re-signed with the team for $2 million which makes it very possible for the Bills to release him if he underperforms. Not to mention, Buffalo’s free agent signing of Darrick Forrest brings more physicality to the secondary which is something that they desperately need.

ST (3): Jake Camarda (P), Tyler Bass (K), Reid Ferguson (LS)

Tyler Bass and Reid Ferguson aren’t going anywhere. They are here to stay. As for punter, Sam Martin is no longer with the Bills. Instead, Buffalo will have a competition between Jake Camarda and Brad Robbins. Camarda gets the job done in camp, which means Robbins is out of Buffalo.
