Bills draft pick included in recent lawsuit (and it's troubling if true)

The Buffalo Bills spent their first round pick in this year’s NFL Draft on cornerback Maxwell Hairston out of the University of Kentucky in hopes that he can help solidify the secondary with Christian Benford. After a strong combine performance, Hairston was rising on draft boards and the Bills managed to draft him 30th overall.

He caught the attention of Bills Mafia with his bright personality and literally congratulated every draft pick who went before him. He brings a lot of speed to Buffalo’s defense and can hopefully become an instant impactful player. However, a new development with Hairston has been aired out and it’s not a good look for him or the Bills.

According to WKBW Channel 7 Buffalo, Hairston has been “named in a civil lawsuit over an alleged sexual assault case when Hairston was a student-athlete at the University of Kentucky.” WKBW stated that “the lawsuit states that Hairston engaged in non-consensual sexual contact with the woman in her on-campus dorm room back in 2021.”

After the Bills selected Hairston in the draft, general manager Brandon Beane was about the allegations regarding Hairston and Beane told the media that the Bills felt comfortable with the investigation, saying that “Hairston volunteered to do a polygraph and had notes.”

Lawsuit involving Maxwell Hairston is a bad look for Bills organization

As this story develops, it’s important to remember to let the process carry out. However, this is obviously not a great look for the rookie or the organization. For Beane to say he and his team felt comfortable taking Hairston knowing that there were allegations out there about Hairston could come back on him in a bad way.

Again, it is an alleged incident for now as the process will carry out. As this story develops, we will report accurate information to keep you up to date.
