This is the first game in a long time where fans of the Buffalo Bills shouldn’t worry about getting a win. Each week, the NFL is a week-to-week schedule where a win or loss can heavily affect a team. However, Week 18 is pointless for the Bills. With nothing to lose and nothing to gain, the Bills just need to stay healthy. There is more pressure on this game for their opponent, the New England Patriots. If they win this game, there’s a good chance that they will lose the No. 1 overal pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Throughout this season, players and the Bills as a whole have made numerous amounts of history. Whether they re-wrote it, or climbed the history ladder, records were in trouble. Obviously the one that was doing most of the work was quarterback Josh Allen.
Just this season alone, Allen has done the following:
-Become the first player in NFL history to have 40+ touchdowns in five consecutive seasons (Week 7 vs. New York Jets).
-Was the first player in NFL history to record multiple passing and rushing touchdowns, 350+ passing yards and 60+ rushing yards in the same game (Week 15 vs. Detroit Lions).
-Became the second player in NFL history to have three passing and three rushing touchdowns in a game (Week 14 vs. Los Angeles Rams).
-Became the fourth player in NFL history to record a receiving touchdown on a pass that he threw (Week 13 vs. San Francisco 49ers).
This is just a small sample of the accomplishments that Allen has this year. He’s the star of the team, and he deserves to win the MVP award without question. However, it is unlikely that we see Allen make history tomorrow against the Patriots as he is expected to be on the field for a very short amount of time.
While Allen is expected to start, it should be for a couple plays just to keep his start streak alive. Allen is set to make his 115th consecutive start. Behind him is Jared Goff at 54 starts, per the Buffalo Bills PR X account.
Even though Allen won’t be seen much tomorrow, that doesn’t mean the Bills won’t have the chance to make more history. According to the Buffalo Bills PR X account, the Bills can become the first team in NFL history to pass and rush for 30 touchdowns in the same season. All that they need is one passing touchdown.
Remember when people were saying that this Bills offense was going to among the worst in the league at the start of the season? Yeah, so do we…now they have a fantastic shot at starting history in the last week of the regular season.
