Something could be brewing up in Buffalo. The Buffalo Bills have had a good start to the season, but they know as well as anyone that you need as many quality players as possible to make it through the playoffs.

General manager Brandon Beane is no stranger to making big moves, and one reporter thinks he could be set to make another before the upcoming trade deadline. According to CBS Sports writer and NFL insider Jonathan Jones, the Bills are a team to watch in the coming weeks.

If he's right, Bills fans might finally get the receiver they've been asking for.

Bills are a team to watch at the NFL trade deadline

In an article recapping the NFL's league meetings and dishing out some trade rumors, Jones said, "An interesting team to watch is Buffalo. The Bills have been up and down the last few weeks, but GM Brandon Beane has made deals in each of the past two offseasons. He sent out for Rasul Douglas in 2023 and got Amari Cooper last fall. Some believe he could go after a receiver again."

Despite consistently competing among the top teams in football, the Bills have glaring weaknesses on their roster. On defense, the safety and cornerback rooms desperately need help. And on offense, Buffalo is still without a top receiver for Josh Allen.

With the reigning MVP under center, an explosive running back, and an elite offensive line, the Bills can still get by on offense. Their receivers have complementary skill sets. Khalil Shakir operates in the slot, taking quick passes and turning them into explosive plays. Keon Coleman operates as a classic "X" receiver, lining up on the outside and winning with physicality.

But there isn't a dominant wideout on this team. Since trading Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans, the Bills have lacked a true top target for Allen. As Jones mentioned, Beane tried to fix that problem last season by trading for Amari Cooper before the deadline. Of course, Cooper didn't end up filling the role that the Bills hoped he would.

If Buffalo looks to add a receiver this fall, there are plenty of options rumored to be available. Jakobi Meyers, Chris Olave, Calvin Ridley, and Jaylen Waddle have all been mentioned as potential trade candidates. Adding one of these star wideouts before the deadline could be the missing piece that finally pushes the Bills over the hump.
