The Buffalo Bills will have plenty of big games in the 2026 season. They have a good amount of primetime games that will kick off in Week 2 when they host the Detroit Lions on Thursday Night Football in the first ever game of the new Highmark Stadium.
Two big games that stand out for the Bills involve holidays during the season. First, the Bills will be in primetime on Thanksgiving night when they host the Kansas City Chiefs. This was shocking to see considering that this matchup is typically featured on CBS, but now it will be on NBC. However, the NFL decided to put the Bills on the schedule for Christmas as well, but they will be on the road againt the Denver Broncos.
In Week 16, we will see a rematch of last year’s divisional round between Buffalo and Denver where the Broncos walked away with a 33-30 overtime win to eliminate the Bills from the playoffs. Josh Allen played one of his worst games in that game, and yet the Bills almost won. Now, revenge is in sight for him. This is one of the best matchups that is on the schedule, and yet it’s being overlooked.
Bills vs. Broncos matchup being overlooked ahead of 2026 season
Erik Beaston from Bleacher Report created a list of the most anticipated games ahead of the NFL schedule release, yet Buffalo vs. Denver didn’t make the list. Teams like the Rams, Seahawks, and Patriots were listed multiple times.
Last year’s matchup against the Bills and Broncos was a clear candidate for “Game of the Year” and even though Denver got the last laugh, this game changed so much for the Bills as two days after they lost, Sean McDermott was fired. There were controversial calls, plenty of missed penalties, and a great amount of thrilling plays that kept fans on the edge of their seats.
With these two set to battle again but on Christmas, late in the season where possible playoff seedings could be up for grabs, this matchup should have deserved the recognition of being a must-see game for the 2026 season. Fans will just be hoping that both teams will be as healthy as possible so that it’s an even battle.
