The 2025 season could be the one where the Buffalo Bills are the last team standing and raising the Lombardi Trophy in Santa Clara. This team deserves it and most importantly, Bills Mafia deserves it.
With this season being the final year in their current Highmark Stadium, there would be nothing more fitting than seeing the Bills start their journey in their new stadium (which is right across the street) with a Super Bowl banner.
However, the season always comes with great and bad moments. While the Bills are a powerhouse, they will eventually run into some tough situations and it might hurt their confidence.
4 potential tough scenarios Bills may have to face in 2025
Stopping Derrick Henry in Week 1
Right from the start, the Bills will be tasked to stop the Ravens who are seeking revenge from last year’s AFC playoff battle where Buffalo squeaked by with a 27-25 win. There are people out there who say Lamar Jackson is going to the Bills’ biggest challenge. Nope, it will be Derrick Henry instead,
Henry rushed for 199 yards and had two total touchdowns in Week 4 last season against the Bills as Baltimore destroyed the Bills, 35-10. While Henry wasn’t as dominant in the playoffs against Buffalo, he still managed to rush for 84 yards and a score.
Quite frankly, without Henry, Jackson isn’t as dangerous so the main priority for Buffalo should be to slow down Henry. If he gets going and gets into a rhythm, it’s going to be a rough night for the Bills.
Secondary gets tested a lot
With the revamp of the Bills’ secondary this past offseason, this unit is in for some tough matchups this season. The only for-sure thing that we know is that Christian Benford has become the Bills’ CB1 and has been a lockdown corner.
Buffalo drafted three rookie cornerbacks, including first-rounder Maxwell Hairston, and also signed Tre’Davious White and Dane Jackson as veteran presences. At safety, the Bills have Taylor Rapp and Cole Bishop as the presumed starters and both Damar Hamlin and Darrick Forrest will battle it out.
There are a lot more questions than answers, but there is also hope. However, hope only gets you so far in this league. We could see this secondary be the sole reason why Buffalo loses a game or two.
Potential trap games
This schedule might be one of Buffalo’s easiest ones in recent memory. They are taking on eight non-playoff teams from 2024 and they don’t have any major road disadvantages as the farthest they will travel is to Houston in Week 12. As we all know, though, the NFL is a week-to-week schedule and anything is possible.
Even though the Bills should be favored in most, if not all of their games, we have seen upsets all the time and Buffalo could face their own. Whether it’s against a team like Carolina, Atlanta, or the Jets, the Bills have to bring their A-game every week no matter what.
Overcoming Chiefs in the playoffs
This was the one that everybody should have seen coming. Four of the last five playoffs have been a heartbreak for the Bills at the hands of Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. When will the misery end?
You can almost expect a Patrick Mahomes vs. Josh Allen playoff matchup and if we get another one this coming season, Buffalo will have to block out the noise of the naysayers who are talking about how it will be the same result; with the Chiefs winning. If Buffalo gets the opportunity to finally slay the dragon, they have to do it. No questions asked.
