4 Carolina Panthers the Buffalo Bills could trade for before the deadline
Xavier Woods
Another position that the Buffalo Bills have had to deal with injuries is at safety as Micah Hyde suffered a neck injury in Week 2 and will miss the remainder of the season. In addition to Hyde, the Bills have been without Jordan Poyer for two of their first four games due to different injuries.
The Bills have had to turn to Damar Hamlin and Jaquan Johnson to replace their star safety tandem and before this season these two have combined for only one career start. While both have done a decent job, they also have had some negative plays like when the Dolphins converted 3rd and 27 against the Bills in Week 3.
One player that could be a boost not only this year, but a potential replacement for Jordan Poyer past this season, would be Xavier Woods. The Panthers signed Woods this offseason as a free agent and has been one of the few bright spots on the Panthers’ defense.
He has started the first four games of the season and has 30 total tackles and one pass defended. Woods did miss this past week due to a hamstring injury but it doesn’t appear to be a long-term issue with him listed as questionable for this past game.
At only 27 and under contract for two more years past this season, he could be a player that makes sense for this defense and provide stability past this season.
