Linebackers

The Buffalo Bills ask a lot from their linebackers by the fact that they primarily play nickel defense. This forces Tremaine Edmunds and Matt Milano to cover a great deal of ground and generally, they are successful in that.

Thursday night, was a perfect example of that as both players took great angles to the ball carrier, limited yards, and kept the play in front of them for the most part. Tremaine Edmunds would lead the team in total tackles with 10 while Matt Milano was not far behind with seven.

The improvements from the defensive line can’t go unstated here as the Bills additions of players like DaQuan Jones and Tim Settle allow Edmunds and Milano clear paths to ball carriers. They are able to keep offensive linemen engaged and not give them the chance to get to that second level to block the linebackers.

This could be finally the year that Tremaine Edmunds really has that breakout season that fans have been hoping for since he was drafted in 2019.
