Defensive Line

The Buffalo Bills signed five free agents this offseason along their defensive line and outside of Shaq Lawson, who was inactive for this game, they all made an impact. The biggest was obviously Von Miller and that was the hope with the contract he signed.

The former All-Pro delivered with two sacks but Jordan Phillips on the interior also had a great game and looked like the player from 2019 when he had 9.5 sacks. In this game, Phillips was second on the team with 1.5 sacks.

The defensive line as a whole also dominated the line of scrimmage against the run as the Rams averaged less than three yards per carry.

However, the play of the game might have been Boogie Basham who late in the second half, with the game already seemingly decided, was able to deflect a pass up in the air and come down with the interception.

While it didn’t impact the outcome, the play was impressive and it was great to see Basham have a big play to start his second year in the NFL.
