Cornerbacks

The biggest concern entering this game was going to be at outside cornerback as the Bills lacked the experience with Dane Jackson, who has less than 10 career starts, and two rookies, Christian Benford and Kaiir Elam.

The coaching staff elected to go with Jackson and Benford as their starters but would rotate Elam into the game with Benford opposite Jackson. While there were some mistakes, like Benford losing his receiver on the opening drive that allowed Matthew Stafford to complete the pass for a first down, the results have to be promising for Sean McDermott and Leslie Frazier.

Kaiir Elam and Christian Benford each had three total tackles while Benford added a pass breakup. However, the big play from this group was an interception by Dane Jackson in the first half.

There is no question that Cooper Kupp was a challenge and he had a great game with 12 receptions, 128 yards, and a touchdown. Kupp is almost unstoppable at this point and it is hard to fault the performance of this cornerback group against him.

However, the fact that the Bills held six other Los Angeles Rams who received targets to only 112 receiving yards is a great sign that this group should be able to keep things together until Tre’Davious White returns.
