7 quick thoughts from the Buffalo Bills preseason win over the Broncos
Position battle at tight end heating up
The battle for the second tight end position appears to be heating up and may even have a third player in the mix now. On the opening drive for the Bills, tight end Quintin Morris was on the field with the starters. After a few plays of the opening drive, Tommy Sweeney came onto the field to replace Morris.
However, it was Howard who had the biggest impact of the day as he had three receptions, 16 yards, and one touchdown but he didn’t see the field until the starters were out of the game. Morris would add a reception later in the game for 12 yards, which was his only catch of the day while Tommy Sweeney didn’t have a reception or even a target.
At this point of the preseason, there doesn’t appear to be a clear favorite to be the second tight end in this offense behind Dawson Knox. This is one position battle that may go through next week’s game against the Carolina Panthers before the coaching staff makes a decision.
