Rookie cornerback depth chart battle continues

Another big position battle for the Buffalo Bills is at cornerback and with Dane Jackson looking to have one of the starting spots locked up, there is a question between the two rookie cornerbacks (Kaiir Elam and Christian Benford) of who is the next player up.

In this game against the Broncos, Elam got the start opposite Jackson but then Benford was on the field for the next two series. During the Bills’ defense third series, Jackson was replaced by Elam and the two rookies would play the remainder of the first half and into the second half.

It was a bit of a mixed bag from the rookie cornerbacks as the Bills defense as a whole did a good job slowing the pass as Josh Johnson only had 70 passing yards, which Benford and Elam were a big part of limiting the Broncos quarterback. However, both cornerbacks were called for penalties as Benford was called for illegal contact and Elam for a facemask.
