Buffalo Bills 53-man roster projection before training camp
Running Back (4)
Devin Singletary, James Cook, Taiwan Jones, Zack Moss
Cut: Rasheem Blackshear, Duke Johnson
The Buffalo Bills have been investing several early-round draft picks in the running back position since Brandon Beane became general manager. Devin Singletary and Zack Moss were third-round draft picks, and James Cook is a second-round pick of this most recent draft.
We saw Devin Singletary completely takeover the backfield last season while Zack Moss became inactive for several games towards the end of the season.
Singletary, Cook, and Jones are likely penciled in on the roster as they all have prominent roles for the team. Singletary and Cook will be the 1-2 punch at running back, while Jones is a special teams ace who was a captain on last year’s team.
The final spot for a running back will be between Zack Moss and Duke Johnson, while Rasheem Blackshear is primarily a practice squad candidate. I give the upper hand to Moss because Beane often does not like to part with his draft picks just halfway through his rookie contract. However, Moss could find himself in trouble with a poor training camp. His roster spot is anything but secure.
