Buffalo Bills 53-man roster projection before training camp
Training camp is here, and the veterans on the Buffalo Bills report to camp today while rookies reported earlier in the week. The next several weeks will be used to determine the final roster and practice squad for the 2022 season in which the Bills are Super Bowl favorites in nearly every sportsbook you can find.
Back in person at St. John’s Fisher University, the Bills will be in front of fans during training camp for the first time since they have become one of the NFL’s most dominant teams. While we are just excited to have Buffalo Bills fans back at camp, there is always the fun of skipping over the month of August and predicting the Bills final 53-man roster.
Buffalo Bills 53-man roster projection before training camp
Quarterback (2)
Josh Allen, Case Keenum
Cut: Matt Barkley
Likely the most manageable position group to predict. The Bills have been carrying only two quarterbacks on the roster for most of Josh Allen’s career. The departure of Mitch Trubisky to Pittsburgh left the Bills without a backup to Allen.
However, the Bills were able to fill that void with Case Keenum, who has 64 career NFL starts. Keenum will be Allen’s primary backup this season. The Bills also brought back Matt Barkley, who was on the Bills from 2018-2020, as Allen’s backup and third-string quarterback.
Barkley will likely find himself on the Bills practice squad acting as the third-string quarterback for the Bills this season.
