4 position battles to watch on offense during Buffalo Bills training camp
The 2022 NFL season is right around the corner as the Buffalo Bills are set to kick off their training camp on Monday when rookies are scheduled to report.
On the offensive side of the ball, the Bills have a good idea of who the starters are going to be this season with players like Josh Allen, Stefon Diggs, Dawson Knox, and Devin Singletary all returning.
When looking at the depth chart there really is only one spot in the starting lineup up for grabs but there are plenty of position battles further down as players fight to be the primary backup or in some cases earn a spot on the 53-man roster.
What are the top position battles on the offensive side of the ball for the Buffalo Bills?
Greg Mancz vs. Greg Van Roten
One position battle is between Greg Mancz and Greg Van Roten as they compete for one of the backup interior offensive lineman spots. Both players could play guard if necessary but more importantly, they are fighting for the backup center job behind Mitch Morse.
Greg Mancz has played seven seasons in the NFL with six years with the Houston Texans and last year with the Miami Dolphins. He was signed earlier this offseason by the Bills to a one-year deal. Between the two, Mancz has the most starting experience at center but he hasn’t been a full-time starter since 2016.
As for Greg Van Roten, who was signed just last month, he has more starting experience recently with 50 starts over the past four years but almost exclusively at guard. However, he could be an option at center if the need were to arise, similar to what Jon Feliciano brought to the team the past few years.
The Buffalo Bills likely don’t have enough room for both and these two will be fighting for a spot on the 53-man roster.
