3. player. 16. . . . Taron Johnson

While Taron Johnson is a nickel cornerback, he is almost a full-time starter for the Buffalo Bills with how frequently they play in that formation. He also has developed into one of the top nickel corners in the league and was a big reason for the Bills agreeing to a three-year extension during the season.

Johnson was a fourth round pick by the Buffalo Bills in 2018 and has played in 55 games over his four seasons with Buffalo. He has 262 total tackles, three interceptions, 22 passes defended, and made one of the biggest plays in Bills’ playoff history with his 101-yard interception return for a touchdown against the Baltimore Ravens.

He certainly has plenty of highlights but Johnson at one point was in danger of losing his starting job back in 2020. Johnson was struggling and was benched in Week 6 of the 2022 season for Cam Lewis but an injury by Lewis in that same game opened the door for Taron Johnson to return to his role.

Since that game, he has steadily improved and last year was by far his best with a completion percentage allowed of 55% and a QB rating of only 75.5. He is a big part of this defense and one of the top cornerbacks in the AFC East.
