Buffalo Bills: 53-man roster prediction after one week of training camp
Quarterbacks (2)
- Josh Allen
- Mitch Trubisky
Cut: Jake Fromm, Davis Webb
The starter and backup are firmly entrenched in their spots. Josh Allen is the starter who looks to improve upon an MVP-caliber season last year. Allen has been on fire so far this training camp looking like an even better version of himself. He also has started to build a strong connection with new wideout Emmanuel Sanders
Trubisky comes to Buffalo from Chicago where he never really developed into a star after being a Top 5 pick. Trubisky will slot into the backup role and Buffalo now has probably the best quarterback room in the entire league. After those two things get a little murkier. Last season’s quarantine quarterback Jake Fromm who was a fifth round pick in 2020 is presumably the third quarterback followed by Davis Webb.
Both players have no regular-season experience which makes them less valuable than a vet like Trubiksy. Fromm has a better chance to make the roster because of his draft status but people forget that Webb was a third round pick himself and a huge part in the Bill’s success last season due to what he did in practice and helping Allen prepare.
Because Buffalo has such a strong backup in Trubisky I think they will try and sneak both Fromm and Webb onto the practice squad and use that extra roster spot somewhere else.
