Star Lotulelei

The next player on this list is another former Carolina Panthers player and returning this season after opting out due to the pandemic in 2020. The Bills saw the impact Star Lotulelei has on this defense and his return will certainly be a welcome sight.

While Lotulelei is going to likely be a starting defensive tackle for the Bills this coming season, he also carries a big contract. He has a cap hit of $7.6 million this season and since he opted out last year, he has two more years left on his current deal with cap hits of $9.35 million in 2022 and $8.95 million in 2023.

When considering the contract that Lotulelei has remaining, and the fact that he will be 34 in the final year of his current deal, it would seem unlikely that an expansion team would select him but if they were, it would absolutely help the Buffalo Bills salary cap.
