The next player in this group is due primarily to the depth at the defensive end position. If the Bills were to lose Mario Addison, a player like Darryl Johnson may have a tough time earning a spot on the 53-man roster.

Johnson was a seventh round pick by the Bills in the 2019 NFL Draft and has been more of a special teams contributor (66% of snaps in 2019, 58% in 2020) than at defensive end. The reason is that while Johnson has shown to have some success getting after the quarterback, two sacks and 5 QB hits in two seasons, he has struggled setting the edge against the run.

When considering the Bills already have Jerry Hughes, A.J. Epenesa, Greg Rousseau, Carlos Basham Jr., and Efe Obada on the roster, it would make sense to make Darryl Johnson available in a potential expansion draft.
