Matt Breida

Contract: 1 year, $1,055,000

Average salary rank among running backs: 90th

The signing of Matt Breida was an interesting one because the Buffalo Bills really needed speed and explosiveness at the position, which is something they don’t get a lot from with Devin Singletary and Zack Moss. However, the Bills last year didn’t have more than three running backs active during games and usually one of those running backs was Taiwan Jones, who plays primarily on special teams.

This pick comes with some assumptions at this point in the offseason that will likely be cleared up over the next few weeks. For Matt Breida to be one of the best bargains, it would mean the Buffalo Bills didn’t draft another running back, particularly with one of their top picks.

It also means the team potentially trades Devin Singletary and goes with a backfield of Zack Moss and Matt Breida. If these two things happen, then Breida has the chance to bounce back and produce as he did with the San Francisco 49ers.
