Quarterback: B+

For the first time in his young career, Josh Allen was in the MVP conversation. Alongside the names of Russell Wilson, Aaron Rodgers and Kyler Murray, he showed a large step forward taken from last season. All this chatter was for good reason as threw for 12 touchdowns before the dreaded Tennessee Titans game.

Following that game, we have seen a downward trend in Allen’s game, throwing a 1:1 INT-TD ratio of four touchdowns to four interceptions.

For Buffalo to regain what had them be successful in the first quarter of the season, they will have to re-establish the run.

As previously mentioned in the runningbacks grade section, play action is vital for the success of this offensive unit, something that has been neglected.

Through the first quarter of the season, Allen had a completion percentage hovering around 70%. This was due largely in part to the fact that the unit was utilizing every all of their weapons; run and pass. As they moved away from it in games against the Raiders, Titans and Cheifs, their ability to score was heavily compromised.

Looking at the rest of the season, Allen has favorable back-to-back secondary matchups against the Seattle Seahawks who have allowed 358.7 passing YPG and Arizona 247.3 YPG. Getting a healthy John Brown will be vital for the passing game in these two games as his elite speed has sincerely been missed in weeks prior. Having him back will allow Allen to attack all three levels of the defense and hopefully get back to his first-season-quarter self.
