For the better part of two seasons, the tight end position has been a real area of worry. With drafting Dawson Knox in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft, many would have thought that the team had secured their tight end of the future. The opposite has seemed to be true.

There have been two large knocks on Knox as he has shown to be a liability in the passing game, recording multiple drops. Additionally, he has shown the inability to sit along the offensive line and aid in pass protection.

Knox has also missed games due to a COVID-19 diagnosis that through contact tracing had almost the entire tight end room miss Week 7. In their absence, Tyler Kroft has stepped up for the Buffalo Bills , recording 118 receiving yards and two touchdowns in four starts. It is unclear how Knox will fit into the ‘revolving door’ that has developed at the position but it is safe to say that it is one of the weaker positions on the Bills offense.

There are some serious speculations on if the Bills will select a true pass-catching tight end in the first round of the draft. Players like Penn State’s Pat Freiermuth is an extremely enticing option. The 6′ 5″, 258 lbs junior currently has 106 receiving yards and a touchdown on 10 targets.
