Defensive Player of the Year: Jordan Poyer

While the Buffalo Bills defense as a whole has taken a step backward, one player who hasn’t is Jordan Poyer. The Bills starting safety has played every game this year, currently leads the team with 69 total tackles, six tackles for a loss, one pass defended, and two sacks.

Jordan Poyer joined the Bills in 2017 during Sean McDermott’s first season as head coach and stepped into the starting role. He has continued to develop and the team made it a point to extend him this offseason. They understand how important he is to this defense and he has shown that this year with his play.

While he does play mostly towards the line of scrimmage, he is versatile enough to drop back when needed. There is no question that Jordan Poyer has been the best player on this defense this season.
