Tight End

Long term, the tight end position is one of the strongest for the Buffalo Bills. However, in this current moment in time, it is one that has some of the most concerning depth especially if they were to lose Dawson Knox or Tyler Kroft.

The Bills have four tight ends on their 53-man roster with Lee Smith and undrafted free agent Reggie Gilliam as the two joining Knox and Kroft. However, Smith is primarily a blocking specialist or an extra offensive lineman, that doesn’t really provide much in the passing game.

As for Gilliam, while it was a great story to see him make the 53-man roster, he entered camp as a fullback and was only moved to tight end in the final week. He is obviously learning the position and was kept on the roster likely as more of an h-back and one who can contribute on special teams.

The fact that Tommy Sweeney is still on the PUP list, Tyler Kroft has had his own injury concerns in the past, this is a position that could become a concern very quickly.
