Linebacker

The last position that has depth concerns for the Buffalo Bills is linebacker. The team has three backups at the position with Tyler Matakevich, Tyrel Dodson, and Del’Shawn Phillips.

The reason this is a concern is that Matakevich is the only one to play a regular season snap at linebacker and even his time at the position is minimal. If the Bills were to lose one of their starters this is a position that goes from a strength to a position that opponents can now try to exploit.

The one player that this position really hinges on is Tyrel Dodson. During training camp, Leslie Frazier praised Dodson for what he had done in camp and just how smart he is. While Frazier specifically noted he was working as a backup middle linebacker, he in theory could step into any position if the need arose.

A veteran at the position though could be a smart move to give the Buffalo Bills a little more insurance. Earlier this summer they were looking at Darron Lee and the former first round pick would be a perfect fit to address this need.
