Buffalo Bills: Rookies making good first impression to start training camp

The Buffalo Bills selected place kicker Tyler Bass with the first of their two sixth round picks in the 2020 NFL Draft. The kicker position is tough for rookies to break through because teams typically don’t keep two kickers so the rookie would need to beat out the veteran.

The veteran he has to beat out is Stephen Hauschka, who has been the team’s starting kicker the past three years. It remains to be seen exactly what the coaching staff will decide to do but Bass had a great practice on Thursday after a mediocre one on Tuesday according to Thad Brown of WROC.

If there were preseason games this year and Tyler Bass had a chance to kick in that environment, his chances might be better. One thing is clear and it looks like Bass is at least pushing the veteran for the starting job.
