Who is the starting tight end?

Similar to the offensive line, the coaching staff has not really been able to evaluate the tight end position and find a consensus starter. The Bills have been without Tyler Kroft since the spring when he broke his foot, and has not been able to practice yet during training camp or preseason.

This left the team with Jason Croom, last year’s starter, and rookies Dawson Knox and Tommy Sweeney. However, Croom and Knox have been dealing with hamstring injuries that forced them to miss the last two preseason games.

While it is never easy to have these many injuries at one position, it created an opportunity for Sweeney. The seventh round pick has looked good but with Croom and Knox back, will he hold onto the starting job?

These next two games will help give the coaching staff a better idea of what talent they have at tight end and who should be starting.
