August 8th, 2026, will always be known as the first time that Buffalo Bills fans got the chance to not just check out the brand new Highmark Stadium, but they also got to see the team practice in it as well. The Bills hosted the Return of the Red and Blue practice, which is a tradition that they have had and it gives fans the chance to see the practice in a gameday atmosphere.

With training camp at St. John Fisher University all wrapped up and now this practice being completed, the Bills are officially in a game week as they will have their first preseason game this coming Saturday on August 15th where they will host the Carolina Panthers.

New Highmark Stadium practice debut featured good and bad

Fans got the chance to see some good and some bad from Saturday’s practice, which included seeing two offensive players go down with injuries. Center Connor McGovern and running back Ty Johnson both went down with injuries, but we don’t know how serious it is at this point.

On the other hand, kicker Tyler Bass was very impressive in front of Bills Mafia which is great to see after he missed all of the 2025 season with a pelvic injury.

For many players and fans, this was the first time that they got to see the new stadium. Right across the street was the old Highmark Stadium, also known as “The Ralph” which has since been torn down. Even though that process pulled at the heart strings of Bills Mafia, it was time for a new stadium and it looks absolutely beautiful.

Not only did the stadium stand out, but players also gave Bills fans a shoutout for attending the practice.

Bills Mafia gets special shoutout from veteran linebacker

After practice was completed, linebacker Terrel Bernard spoke with Jonathan Acosta from WGRZ and Bernard talked about how the practice felt like a gameday with all of the fans in attendance.

It's a beautiful stadium, beautiful facilties. I know all the guys really appreciate having this here. Seeing the fans out here for a practice is crazy. It felt like a gameday.” said Bernard.

There is no fanbase in the NFL like Bills Mafia. Whether the Bills are at an elite level or near the bottom of the league, no fans show up like Bills fans. Whether it’s sunshine or extreme snowy weather, there is never disappointment from Bills fans. They go to home games and travel well to other stadiums.

Even when it comes to practices, whether it’s at training camp or at the stadium, the stands are always filled. With all of the new changes that the Bills went through this offseason, even though fans may not agree with some of the decisions, they are still believing in the team no matter what. As I said before, there is no fanbase in the NFL like Bills Mafia.
