Well, here we are again Bills fans…another start to the offseason where the Lombardi Trophy didn’t end up in Western New York. Since 2020, the Bills have suffered heartbreak year after year. This time, it wasn’t because of the Chiefs either. The Bills lost to the Denver Broncos in overtime, which added another overtime loss onto the record of Josh Allen.

Now granted, Allen can’t help that the defense has fallen apart in crucial moments in the playoffs. Then again, Allen was responsible for 4 of the Bills’ 5 turnovers against Denver. Aside from this playoff game, Allen has never been the reason why the Bills have failed. At the same time, Allen still has yet to live up to his full 100% superstar potential with once again missing out on the Super Bowl.

Allen is going into his 9th season in the NFL next season. He’s won division championships and the MVP award. However, he still has yet to reach the Super Bowl and that is just extremely unbelievable to think about. Even though he can’t control all aspects of the team, he is the main leader and both the glory and disappointment land on his shoulders.

Josh Allen is under a lot of pressure already heading into 2026 season

Lou Scataglia from NFL Spin Zone listed Allen as one of the five quarterbacks who are “under a mountain of pressure” going into the 2026 season. The other quarterbacks included Jalen Hurts, Jayden Daniels, Bryce Young, and Caleb Williams.

"At some point, if Allen wants to stop hearing all of this 'playoff failure' chatter in the offseason, he's got to find a different gear and at leastappearin a Super Bowl. Now, yes, he's not going anywhere and will likely finish his career as the starting quarterback of the Buffalo Bills, but each year the Bills fail to get over the hump in the playoffs, the noise only gets louder." said Scataglia.

It’s unfortunate that Allen is having one of the best careers by a quarterback in an era where the AFC is completely loaded with a ton of talent. He’s in the same conference as guys like Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, and Lamar Jackson. Now, there are guys like Trevor Lawrence, Bo Nix, and Drake Maye who are up-and-coming in their respective careers.

Again, Allen doesn’t play defense. It’s not his fault if the defense can’t make a stop. At the same time, we have seen plenty of games where Allen and the offense look off. That plays a role in the failures that the Bills have had. If the 2026 season ends with the Bills not making or winning the Super Bowl, it’s only going to add to the plates of the doubters who believe Allen doesn’t have what it takes.
