The Buffalo Bills are by far one of the best teams in the NFL, and they are led by the best quarterback in the game with Josh Allen. However, Allen can’t always do everything by himself as it has been seen the last two seasons. Buffalo's wide receivers haven't been the main issue for the team overall, but they certainly play a big role.
Since trading away Stefon Diggs, the Bills haven’t had the greatest help at the position no matter who they brought in. Their best receiver has been Khalil Shakir who is a quality slot guy, but he is not a true No. 1 receiver.
One of the additions that the Bills made was signing Joshua Palmer in the 2025 offseason to a three-year deal, after he spent the first four seasons of his career with the Los Angeles Chargers. When the Bills signed him to the deal, it wasn’t a big splash considering that Palmer has only reached a high of 769 yards in a season. In addition, he has gone down in touchdown production by one each season which included not getting into the endzone last season.
Palmer battled through injuries early on in the season, and he missed the entire playoffs as well. His first season with the Bills was extremely disappointing as he only reached 303 yards.
Now with the Bills bringing DJ Moore via trade with the Bears, drafting Skyler Bell, and then there being public support of Keon Coleman, you could easily make the case that Palmer could be on the roster bubble.
Joshua Palmer mock trade has Bills giving up after just one season
Moe Moton of Bleacher Report recently listed a trade scenario that would have the Bills trading Palmer to the New Orleans Saints in exchange for a late 2027 pick.
"If the Bills plan to keep wideout Keon Coleman and allow him a chance to bounce back from a regression season, Palmer could be on the way out of Buffalo after one term. The 26-year-old had an uneventful 2025 campaign, hauling in 22 passes for 303 scoreless yards." said Moton.
"The Saints can reunite Palmer with head coach Kellen Moore, who called plays for the Los Angeles Chargers offense when the wideout caught 38 passes for 581 yards and two touchdowns in 2023. New Orleans can bring him in as veteran insurance if there are concerns about rookie first-rounder Jordyn Tyson's durability." Moton added.
It would make sense for the Bills to trade Palmer away, if they believe that their other receivers can out produce him. According to Over The Cap, the Bills could save $10.1 million if they traded Palmer but the return would be more than likely extremely low.
With Moore becoming the team's new No. 1, Bell coming in as a promising rookie, Coleman looking like he will get atleast more shot under Joe Brady, and then also having Khalil Shakir, Palmer might be in a little bit of roster trouble and it isn't being talked about enough. Only time will tell if Palmer is a member of the Bills in 2026.
