Teams learned yesterday when they will be playing opponents for the 2026 season. Some schedules are tougher than others, and teams see both breaks and disadvantages. When it comes to the Buffalo Bills, they weren’t given an easy schedule at all. Right out of the gate, the Bills will head down to Houston to take on the Texans for a Week 1 battle.
After what Houston did to Buffalo last year where they were chasing Josh Allen down constantly, there is some concern for this game.
While their Week 1 is going to be tough on the road, the Bills do catch a nice break with being at home from Week 2 to Week 4. They will open up their new stadium on Thursday Night Football against the Detroit Lions in Week 2, and then have back-to-back 1pm games against the Chargers and Patriots.
With having the early home field advantage in the first month, the Bills are set up to get off to a strong start for the season. One of their division rivals can’t say the same thing.
Bills see Patriots face brutal start to 2026 season
While Buffalo will be staying home early on in the season, the New England Patriots will be on the road in three of their first four games. The Patriots will be part of the season opener in Seattle in a Super Bowl rematch against the Seahawks so they will be heading to the Pacific Northwest.
After a Week 2 1pm battle in Foxborough with the Pittsburgh Steelers, New England will then be on the road again for the next two weeks against the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Bills.
Being away from home is a tough task to begin with. Having to do it in three of the first four weeks against all playoff teams from last season is even tougher. Buffalo will be looking for revenge against New England as they not only lost to the Patriots at home last season in Week 5, but the Patriots also captured the AFC East from Buffalo.
With the Bills being at home early on and seeing the Patriots being on the road right away to start their season, Buffalo has the chance to take advantage of that setup and get an early separation within the division. Fans know that the AFC East is going to go either to New England or Buffalo. It will be up to them two to decide who will come out of the division as champions.
