It’s playoff time for the Buffalo Bills and they will be ready to make a run at the Super Bowl in New Orleans. Their first opponent is none other than a feisty Denver Broncos team that is just lucky to be in the postseason. Even though Bo Nix has been a great rookie quarterback, playoff football is a different atmosphere. Just go ahead and ask Mac Jones from his rookie year with the Patriots. Buffalo ended up giving New England a 47-17 wild card round beatdown.
Now, we can’t ignore what type of defense Denver has. They blitz a lot and they lead the NFL in sacks (63). However, they have the toughest task to try and stop Josh Allen. Not a lot of teams have been able to limit Allen, especially at home.
Hopefully this isn’t a one-and-done type of deal for the Bills. They have exceeded expectations by over a mile this season and there would be no better feeling than raising the Lombardi trophy next month. However, they have to complete the first step by taking down the Broncos and there are three Bills who have a chance to join the history books today, according to the Buffalo Bills PR X account.
What three Bills can join the history books vs. Denver?
Like always, Josh Allen is in the running to make some sort of history. Today against Denver, he has the chance to make playoff and franchise history. With 250 total yards, Allen can tie former Bronco John Elway, Joe Flacco, and Aaron Rodgers for the fourth-most consecutive playoff games with atleast 250 combined passing and rushing yards in NFL history.
In addition, if Allen gets one passing touchdown, he will pass Jim Kelly (21) for the most playoff passing touchdowns in Bills history. At this point, it’s not a matter of if but more of when he will break that record.
Former Bronco Von Miller, who has 10.5 career playoff sacks, can tie Reggie White for the fifth-most sacks in NFL history with 1.5 sacks today against Denver. Miller hasn’t been the superstar that Bills fans hoped for. However, this is the perfect chance for Miller to shine against his old team and make life hard for Bo Nix.
Along with Allen and Miller, tight end Dawson Knox can even make a little bit of history himself. In the last four wild card games for the Bills, Knox has caught the first passing touchdown of the game so look for him to catch the first one again. If Knox can get his one receiving touchdown, he will move into a three-way tie with Dave Casper and Vernon Davis for the third-most receiving touchdowns by a tight end in playoff history (7).
Bills fans should be on the lookout for these Bills to make history today. Kickoff from Orchard Park is at 1PM on CBS. Tune in to watch a thrilling matchup.
