The New England Patriots pulled off the big upset on Sunday night, as they handed the Buffalo Bils their first loss of the season on a late, game-winning, 53-yard field goal by Andy Borregales. with this win, the Patriots have shown that they are here to compete under head coach Mike Vrabel and led by quarterback Drake Maye. This was also a revenge game for wide receiver Stefon Diggs, who made his return to Buffalo for the first time since his departure in 2024.

Diggs' relationship with the Bills was seemingly declining over the years, and ultimately, the team decided to trade away Diggs to the Houston Texans. Diggs spent one year with the team before tearing his ACL, and he was released after the 2024 campaign. Now he's on the Patriots, where he gets to see the Bills twice a year.

After the game, Diggs was spotted hugging and having a conversation with Bills quarterback Josh Allen. Cameras caught the two said "love you" to one another. Diggs was asked about his interaction with Allen, and said

"That's my dog man," said Diggs, h/t a video from Michael Schwartz of 7 News WKBW. "Obviously, things happen, the business happens. I spent a lot of time here and I've got a lot of love and respect for that young man. He's a tremendous player, he's one of the boys. Obviously things happen and I'm not here no more. I consider myself a real one, I'm never going to, if I'm not on your team no more, we're not cool no more, we built a special bond. That was my guy. I'm not going to switch up and act like I didn't have a lot of love and respect for that young man."

Stefon Diggs opens up about relationship with Josh Allen after post-SNF interaction

Diggs did sound like he was choking up when discussing his relationship with Allen during their time together in Buffalo.

The two did face off against one another last season when Diggs was on the Texans. That, of course, brought us the image of Diggs side-eying Allen, which has become a frequently used meme on social media. Diggs elaborated on that, saying that it was more the cameras catching him at the wrong time and that he had no ill-will towards Allen during that time.

"They had that picture of me side-eying him, but they just kind of caught it at the wrong time. I always wanted to speak on that photo because I was staring at him at that moment because it was like 'damn that was my brother.' we won in Houston, but that's my brother. I do got a lot of love and respect for him. It kind of looked like it was a side-eye, but that's not what it was. I was starting at him for a second while he was walking away like 'damn, that was my guy.'"

Diggs set the record straight that he had no hard feelings towards Allen. He has a ton of respect for the 2024 NFL MVP, and the two did have a ton of success during their short time together with the Bills. It may not have resulted in a Super Bowl title or an AFC Championship, but the Bills were consistent contenders.

But Diggs' tenure with the Bills ended after four years. Even though he is on a rival team, he wants it to be known that he still thinks very highly of his former quarterback.
