This is the final stretch of the offseason before the NFL truly kicks off in July with training camp, then the preseason, and then finally the kickoff to the regular season. The Buffalo Bills will kick off their season on Sunday Night Football in Week 1 when they host the Baltimore Ravens. A rematch from last year’s divisional round matchup under the lights to kickoff the season is the perfect way to start.
This upcoming season shows a great schedule for the Bills as they don’t have any back-to-back brutal games and they have a pretty even schedule for the most part. The best part of this schedule is that they start and end the regular season at home. With that, we rank the 14 opponents that will face the Bills in 2025.
Ranking the Bills' 2025 opponents
14.) Cleveland Browns - Week 15
I mean, there is no reason why the Browns should placed higher on this list. The organization is a mess and the team has no idea what they are doing at the most important position on the field. Due to the fact that the Bills face the Browns late in the season, it’s hard to predict who the Bills will be facing under center for Cleveland.
13.) New Orleans Saints - Week 4
Much like the Browns, the Saints have a major issue at quarterback with Derek Carr retiring this offseason. It looks like rookie quarterback Tyler Shough will be the one commanding the offense and that should not be scaring anyone. I’ll give New Orleans credit to their defensive play as they have a tendency to make solid plays here and there.
12.) Miami Dolphins - Weeks 3 & 10
This is the surprise of the list of putting the Dolphins this low (but Bills fans shouldn’t be surprised). Miami has been beaten up by the Bills for many years now and they have defeated the Bills just twice in the Josh Allen-era by a combined six points. The Dolphins are no match for the Bills and they won’t be as long as #17 is playing at a high level.
11.) Pittsburgh Steelers - Week 13
Yup, I decided to put the Steelers ahead of the Dolphins despite Miami having a better quarterback situation. However, Pittsburgh has a better head coach and defense. At the same time, this team just can’t seem to break old habits and 2025 could be the first season under Mike Tomlin that the Steelers don’t have a winning record.
10.) Carolina Panthers - Week 8
Sean McDermott takes on the team that ultimately helped him earn the head coaching job in Buffalo back in 2017. I might one of the few people that believes the Carolina Panthers could do some damage in 2025. Bryce Young finally has a little bit of coaching stability and the Panthers showed signs last season that they can play with any team that gets thrown their way. However, they aren’t a serious threat yet.
9.) New York Jets - Weeks 2 & 18
The Jets are starting from the ground up once again, but the hiring of Aaron Glenn could be a culture switch for the better for them. Not to mention, they have a lot more stability at quarterback with Justin Fields who showed signs of promise last season with the Steelers. But at the end of the day, this team has too many weaknesses to fix in order to consider them a top opponent for the Bills this season.
8.) Atlanta Falcons - Week 6
On the most random Monday Night Football game in 2025, the Bills travel to Atlanta to take on the Falcons. While the Falcons could deliver the Bills a punch or two, this game just seems like it’s destined to be a blowout win for the Bills in front of Falcons fans. Atlanta added pieces to their defense, but the unit has a lot to prove and they take on Buffalo too early in the season to become a solidified unit for 2025.
7.) Houston Texans - Week 12
The Bills seem to always struggle against the Texans when they are playing in Houston. This meeting should once again be a down-to-the-wire game and you could argue that whoever has the ball last will win this game.
6.) Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Week 11
Tampa Bay is a fiesty opponent but they always play in one of the worst divisions in football. Nonetheless, they have enough offensive firepower to light up the scoreboard. With a little bit of a revamped defense, this Bucs team could go further than people might expect.
5.) New England Patriots - Weeks 5 & 15
I’m placing New England in the top five on this list because we can’t ignore the impact they made this offseason. They had a solid free agency and draft class. With new head coach Mike Vrabel running the show and Drake Maye having a year under his belt, the Patriots could become a sneaky team this season.
4.) Kansas City Chiefs - Week 9
Patrick Mahomes vs. Josh Allen. It doesn’t get any better than that. The Bills have the Chiefs’ number in the regular season, but we all know what the true story is come playoff time. Either way, the Bills and Chiefs meet once again in Buffalo in the regular season and it should be a classic like always.
3.) Philadelphia Eagles - Week 17
I’m not a fan whatsoever at the placement of this meeting taking place two weeks before playoffs kickoff, but it’s going to happen no matter what. The Eagles will defend their Super Bowl title against the field and they still have one of the best rosters from top to bottom.
2.) Cincinnati Bengals - Week 14
When it comes to the AFC North, the Bills don’t matchup well no matter who it is. They are physical teams and the Bills aren’t. Despite the Bengals not making any of their current players happy in terms of contracts, they still have the best passing attack with Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. If their defense even improves just a bit from last season, Cincinnati will be Super Bowl favorites during the season.
1.) Baltimore Ravens - Week 1
It’s fitting that the Bills’ first opponent of the season is ranked as the top opponent for them this season. Just like the Bengals, the Ravens a very physical team who can punish their opponent. They did it last year to the Bills in Week 4 and they almost had the chance to eliminate the Bills in the playoffs if Mark Andrews didn’t drop a simple goaline catch.
