One of the biggest storylines heading into this NFL Draft was the team that would take the risk of drafting Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders. Throughout the draft process, the thought was that Sanders would find himself getting his name called early on, especially to a QB-needy team like the Las Vegas Raiders or the Pittsburgh Steelers.

However, Sanders had one of the biggest slips in NFL Draft history where he not only fell out of the first round, but he wasn’t picked until the 5th round where the Cleveland Browns traded up to acquire the Colorado quarterback. However, it’s important to note that Sanders was not the first quarterback taken by the Browns.

Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel was drafted the Browns late in the third round, which was a major shock with Sanders still being available. However, both rookie quarterbacks will be teammates and will battle for playing time. It’s very possible that Sanders and Gabriel could be battling each other for the starting quarterback job in Cleveland.

The Browns are now heading into the season with five quarterbacks on their roster: Deshaun Watson, Kenny Pickett, Joe Flacco, Dillion Gabriel, and Shedeur Sanders. Long story short, there is so much instability in Cleveland’s quarterback room but there’s no doubt that there will be a big competition going into 2025.

Shedeur Sanders-to-Cleveland pick could lead to Bills vs. Browns thriller game in 2025

The Buffalo Bills are set to travel to Cleveland in 2025 to take on the Browns and there’s a chance that they could be game planning for Sanders if he is indeed the starter (whether because he’s the best option or due to injury).

In two years at Colorado, being coached by his father in Deion Sanders, Shedeur Sanders threw for 7,364 yards, 64 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions. When him, his father, and Travis Hunter joined forces in Colorado, they completely turned around the program and helped bring Colorado back up to relevancy.

Now, if Sanders is indeed the starter for the Browns going into their game against Josh Allen and the Bills, this matchup could potentially be more of a thriller than we think. The Browns always play tough against the Bills and their defense is no joke.

Again, that’s assuming that Sanders is the starter. At the same time, seeing a Shedeur Sanders vs. Josh Allen matchup would be a very underrated thriller.
