Another week in the NFL season means another time for Josh Allen to rewrite history, whether it’s for the Bills or across the league.
Throughout the season, Allen’s talent and ability have helped reach various milestones whether it’s setting a new record in NFL history or climbing his way up the history books in Bills franchise. For example, he became the 4th quarterback in NFL history to reach 100 career wins (including in the playoffs), along with Patrick Mahomes, Russell Wilson, and Tom Brady.
Now he has the chance to make more on the ground today against the Las Vegas Raiders, who present a very favorable matchup for Allen due to their atrocious run-defense.
Josh Allen can make 3 different kinds of NFL history against Raiders
According to the Buffalo Bills' PR X account, Allen can make three different kinds of rushing history (and all 3 are well within reach for Allen). First, if Allen is able to rush for 40 yards, he will join Lamar Jackson, Michael Vick, Cam Newton, and Russell Wilson as the only QBs with atleast 5,000 rushing yards. Allen is currently averaging 47.8 rushing yards per game, so that should be no problem.
Second, if Allen get rush for one touchdown, he will become the second quarterback in NFL history with 6 consecutive games in a season to rush for a score. The only other quarterback that has done it is Justin Fields back in 2022 with the Chicago Bears. If the Bills get inside the Raiders' 5-yard line, you just know that the "tush push" to the left side is coming from the offense.
Finally, if Allen can get into the endzone on the ground twice, he will become the first QB in NFL history to reach 10 rushing touchdowns in his first 6 games played in a season.
Raiders' run-defense gives Josh Allen chance at more greatness
Going into Week 6, the Raiders have one of the worst defenses in terms of stopping the run. They are allowing 140.6 rushing yards per game, which is the 4th worst in the entire league. Last week, we finally saw Allen become the mobile quarterback that we know he can be. He rushed for 121 yards against the Rams, and that was a much better defense that Buffalo played.
Las Vegas has given up four consecutive games of 120+ rushing yards to opponents, per Pro Football Reference. With the combo of Josh Allen and James Cook, and then potentially other guys like Ray Davis and Ty Johnson, the Bills' rushing attack is in for a monster day against this weak Raiders defense.
