The Buffalo Bills were very close to losing their second game in a row against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 5. Luckily, a blocked field goal by Greg Rousseau and Tyler Bass getting the chance to win it all allowed Buffalo to seal the win in overtime.
However, the Bills keep winning in shootouts, which isn't a great recipe for sustained success. The team travels to Las Vegas to play the Raiders in Week 6, and it's hard to get a good gauge of how that game might look. The Raiders looked like one of the best teams in the AFC the first four games of the season, but just got trounced by the New England Patriots.
Though it's easier to overlook the Raiders, the Bills should take this matchup very seriously. We're going to break down some bold predictions for the Week 6 clash.
Bold Bills predictions for Week 6 against Las Vegas Raiders
James Cook gashes Raiders defense
Now, it might not be fair to predict James Cook to gash a defense because he's been gashing every defense this season. The Bills running back is third in the NFL with 532 rushing yards. However, things could get especially ugly for the Raiders' defense.
They are currently allowing 140.6 rushing yards per game, which is fifth-worst in the NFL. The Raiders don't seem to have any way to stop a running back of Cook's caliber. Kenneth Walker just had 177 rushing yards against the Raiders. For the purposes of bold predictions, Cook is going to have over 200 yards from scrimmage against the Raiders.
Josh Allen throws another interception
Many would argue that Josh Allen is the best quarterback in the NFL right now, but the truth is that he's been a far more effective runner than passer this season. He just had 10 carries for 121 yards against the Rams. Considering how bad the Raiders' run defense is, he's probably going to have a field day on the ground.
The passing game is a different story. Allen has thrown at least one interception in each of the last three games. The Raiders are second in the NFL with 10 takeaways this season and have four interceptions. Allen should have plenty of success against this defense, but he's going to give up at least one interception.
Raiders make things hard for Bills
The Raiders looked like the same old Raiders in Week 5. It was a putrid performance all around. That said, the Patriots are a good team, as the Bills learned in Week 4.
The Raiders are back at home and eager to get back into the win column after a two-game losing streak. Everybody is going to pick the Bills to win this game, and rightfully so, but the Raiders aren't going to make it easy.
Buffalo is on a short week, and they're staying out on the West Coast after playing in Los Angeles in Week 5. Coming off an intense game against one of the NFL's best teams is going to be hard to recover from. The Bills will still pull off the win in the end, but the Raiders are going to keep this game close.
