Predicting Josh Allen's Week 8 stats vs. Seattle Seahawks
By Brandon Ray
Josh Allen has pulled himself out of his funk that he went into against the Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans. At first, he looked like the league’s MVP through the first three games, but then came back down to planet earth. However, the last two weeks he has picked apart two of the best defensive units in the Jets and Titans.
He has passed for 538 yards and 4 touchdowns the last two games with an average of completing 70% of his passes. In addition, he still has yet to throw an interception this year making him the only quarterback left to throw one this year. Now that he has a true wide receiver-one presence in Amari Cooper, the playbook can expand more to allow Allen to thrive rather than play it safe.
Josh Allen will be battle tested against Seattle Seahawks
He will lead this Bills offense against a Seattle Seahawks defense that is in the middle of the pack in terms of overall defense. They have yet to give up over 300+ passing yards in a game and four of their seven takeaways on defense have been interceptions. Having to face a solid defense like this is tough enough. Allen has to do it in their environment in Seattle.
Allen has the ability to silence a crowd and take them out of the game if he gets off to a great start. Bills fans can usually tell what type of game he will have based on the first drive. Last week was an exception due to the fact that Allen went from looking like a backup quarterback to an MVP-caliber player.
It’s the same headline going into each week. The Bills need to get off to a fast start on offense and it all starts with No. 17. Now that Amari Cooper has atleast one game played with Allen, the duo will look to keep growing to keep the passing attack aflow. However, Allen has to be sure that he isn’t just targeting one guy.
With Cooper’s presence last week, this allowed rookie wideout Keon Coleman to have a breakout game with 125 receiving yards against the Titans. The “everybody eats” mentality should still play a factor, but not become the entire gameplan. Get the ball to the playmakers that are open and allow them to move the chains to keep the offense on the field.
The last time Allen faced off against the Seahawks was in 2020 in an empty Highmark Stadium. He completed over 80% of his passes for 415 yards for 3 touchdowns. A lot has changed since that meeting, but Allen has demonstrated what can be done if he gets off to a hot start.
