No one knows what the Buffalo Bills are up to when it comes to the NFL Draft. After trading back twice last night in the first round, the Bills are set to kick off the second round of the draft with the 33rd pick.
They basically traded away two wide receivers last night (Xavier Worthy to the Chiefs, and Xavier Leggette to the Panthers) and Brandon Beane still needs to address the receiver position himself. With the Bills trading back, they acquired many draft picks and have three draft picks for tonight’s two rounds (#33, #60 and #95).
While we wait and see what the Bills will do with their draft picks, there is a report that an AFC East rival of the Bills was linked to a star wide receiver out west.
Josina Anderson from CBS Sports reported that the New England Patriots and the San Francisco 49ers had preliminary trade talks regarding wideout Deebo Samuel.
The 49ers have been surrounded with offseason drama regarding wideout Brandon Aiyuk but now there are talks about Samuel possibly being in a different uniform next season. The Patriots are in a rebuild and they kicked off their rebuild by drafting North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye with the 3rd overall pick.
New England is in desperate need for playmakers on the outside and the fact that it was reported that they had talks with San Francisco about Samuel should concern Bills fans. Samuel can catch and play out of the backfield. He brings physicality to his game which can help the Patriots' offense once it starts to get cold out in Boston.
Let’s not forget, the 49ers drafted a wide receiver in Ricky Pearsall out of Florida so if the 49ers do end up dealing either Aiyuk or Samuel, they can lean back on that draft pick. Buffalo needs to keep a close eye on this situation and see if New England is eyeing on a trade for a star wideout in Samuel.
